2002 Regular Session
Senate Bill 284
AN ACT CONCERNING INCREASED AID TO MUNICIPALITES.
What it does
The synopsis the General Assembly published with the bill.
To use other state revenue sources to provide property tax relief to municipalities if the Revenue Sharing Grant is discontinued. Municipalities are overly dependent on property taxes and only state aid can prevent local tax increases or cuts in local services. In 2001-2002, municipalities received thirty-one million dollars in funding through the Municipal Revenue Sharing grant program.
