2003 Regular Session

House Bill 6205

AN ACT REQUIRING THE REGISTRATION OF ALL VESSELS OVER EIGHT FEET IN LENGTH.

Did not become law. It stopped in the House of Representatives's Transportation Committee on February 14, 2003. The 2003 session has ended.

What it does

The synopsis the General Assembly published with the bill.

To require all boats over eight feet in length to be registered. This measure will help to identify vessels and owners in the event of vessel theft and search and rescue. It will also enable state boating funds to be spent to provide quality state boat launching facilities for the growing number of paddle sport vessels. Finally, it will improve boating safety by expanding the pool of boat operators that must complete an approved basic boating course and possess a safe boating certificate or certificate of personal watercraft operation. This measure is aimed at reducing the increasing number of paddlesport fatalities seen in Connecticut and experienced in the northeast in the last five years.
